Russia to host maiden SCO plus inter-Party Forum of over 30 nations


New Delhi: Russia as the current President of SCO will hold the International Inter-Party Forum SCO+ to be held in a virtual format from October 21-23.

At the initiative of the Chairman of the United Russia party Dmitry A. Medvedev, supported by leaders of the main ruling parliamentary parties of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) states, the International Inter-Party Forum SCO+ to be held in a virtual format, according to a statement issued by the Russian government.

Main theme of the event – Economy for People. Within the Forum there will be several thematic platforms dedicated to various aspects of supporting green technologies, combating dangerous infectious diseases and their consequences, developing digital economy and digital technologies in general, socio-economic cooperation between the regions of the SCO countries and regional security issues.

Special digital platform IIIP2020online was developed to make the event possible. It is planned to maintain 42-hour broadcast, taking into account the time zone difference. Total number of participants in full-time and part-time forms is expected to be about 1000 delegates from over 30 countries.

The SCO Summit will be held in virtual format in November second week. This will be followed by SCO Heads of governments meet to be hosted by India on November 30 through virtual format.
